Yesterday, some of my friends and family came over to hear about my upcoming mission in Brazil. We visited and laughed, I got to hug my grandchildren and my new great-niece, and then the group prayed for me. What a blessing!
I am probably the most blessed woman alive today! To think that God, the ruler of the universe, has chosen me to serve Him as a missionary...almost unbelievable, but true!
Long ago, at a dark time in my life, God gave me a scripture promise to hold onto - Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
...and now that future is here! In January, I will leave for the Amazon, to serve His Kingdom and His people...and maybe bring some new children into His family. I can hardly contain my joy!!
And yet my heart aches at the thought of leaving my children, my grandchildren, and my dear friends. It will be so hard to be so far away when my daughter turns 40 next year, and not to have my grandchildren nearby to hug.
